EFCC Chairman Orders Arrest of ‘Officer’ Who Appeared on Lege Miami Matchmaking Show

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of Olakunle Alex Folarin, a former staff member of the Commission, after he appeared on a Lege Miami matchmaking show streamed on social media platforms.

The EFCC made this known in a statement released in response to the controversies surrounding Folarin’s participation in the Lege Miami programme.

According to the statement, Olukoyede ordered Folarin’s arrest for failing to return his identity card and other EFCC-owned properties after his dismissal.

“The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered his arrest for having some Commission’s properties, including an Identity Card, which he should have handed over upon being dismissed from the EFCC,” EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said in the statement issued on Monday.

Oyewale further disclosed that Folarin, who was employed as a driver at the Ibadan Directorate of the EFCC, was recently dismissed for certificate forgery.

The anti-graft agency also urged the public not to associate Folarin’s actions after his dismissal with the EFCC.

The full statement by Oyewale reads: “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, condemned in the strongest terms, the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami social media platforms.

Folarin was recently dismissed from the Commission for certificate forgery. He was a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.

“The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered his arrest for being in possession of some Commission’s properties, including an Identity Card, which he should have handed over upon being dismissed from the EFCC.

“The public is advised against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC.”
