A yet-to-be-identified police officer has drawn public outrage after a viral video surfaced showing him firing at a vehicle’s tire to stop a driver who allegedly refused to obey a stop order.
In the clip, the officer is seen aiming his rifle at the car before shooting one of the tires at close range, forcing the driver to halt abruptly. Voices in the background could be heard expressing shock over the officer’s extreme action.
The video has since stirred widespread criticism on social media, with many Nigerians demanding disciplinary action and retraining for officers involved in traffic enforcement. Others argued that drivers should comply with police stop orders, especially at night, considering the country’s growing insecurity.
