A Nigerian woman and #ENDSARS activist, Olamide Thomas has been charged to court for allegedly raining insults on the son of the President, Seyi Tinubu on social media.
Miss Thomas was arraigned before an Abuja Court on four count-charges after she was captured on a video insulting Seyi Tinubu and other top officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The video allegedly implicating the activist was recorded during a protest against police use of tear gas at the 4th anniversary of the #EndSARS movement.
The four-paged charge sheet prepared on December 18, the police said the activist violated Section 24 (2) (a) of the Cybercrimes Act, 2024.
Following the charge against Miss Thomas, there is the likelihood that she would be spending the Christmastide season in prison custody.
The presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite on Friday remanded the defendant in prison.
The judges are expected to embark on a holiday break and resume Court sessions in January 2025.
