Suspected Boko Haram terrorists linked to Jama\u2019atu Ahlissunnah Lidda\u2019awati wal-Jihad (JAS) have reportedly sent a threat letter to residents of Dunshigogo community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to SaharaReporters, the letter, allegedly delivered to the community, warned residents of an impending visit by the insurgents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development mirrors an earlier threat issued to Woro community, where more than 162 people were later killed in a brutal attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents of Dunshigogo are said to be gripped by fear, with reports indicating that many are considering fleeing the area amid concerns of a possible assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Information reaching me now is that Dunshigogo still under Kaiama Local Government has been served the same letter, like that of Worro by terrorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I understand that businesses are already closing up and people are fleeing en mass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I don’t even know who to call on now that won’t sabotage the lives of these people,” a top source disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As of the time of reporting, security agencies in Kwara State had not issued any official response to the reported threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On February 3, Nigeria experienced one of its deadliest rural attacks in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Terrorists invaded Woro and Nuku villages in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, North Central Nigeria, killing over 162 people, destroying homes, and abducting several residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Salihu Umar, the village head of Woro, later disclosed that the attackers had sent a letter to the community about three weeks before the assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere was a letter sent about three weeks ago,\u201d he told reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI made a photocopy of the letter and took it to the Kaiama Emirate. I also forwarded a soft copy to the State Security Services (SSS) office in Kaiama.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The original letter, sighted by reporters, was dated 19 Rajab 1447, corresponding to January 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The authors identified themselves as Jama\u2019atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda\u2019adati wal-Jihad (JAS), the main Boko Haram faction now led by Bakura Doro, who succeeded the late Abubakar Shekau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Written in Hausa, the letter stated that the group wanted to \u201csecretly\u201d meet with Umar or his representatives to \u201cdiscuss with you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It added: \u201cAnd we want to come to your town to preach to the people and not to harm you or your people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Umar said the community had remained under threat for several months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the massacre, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area, describing the attackers as \u201cheartless for choosing soft targets in their doomed campaign of terror\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday, February 5, Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the State House in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Presidential sources said the discussions formed part of emergency consultations on the security situation in Kwara and the Federal Government\u2019s immediate humanitarian and security response to the killings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
