United States President Donald Trump has announced the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump made the disclosure on Saturday through a post on his Truth Social platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement comes months after the United States government increased the reward for information leading to Maduro\u2019s arrest to $50 million, citing alleged involvement in international drug trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2020, during Trump\u2019s first term, the United States indicted Maduro alongside several top Venezuelan officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel issued a strong condemnation on social media, accusing Washington of launching a \u201ccriminal attack\u201d on Venezuela and urging swift international action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a post on X, Diaz-Canel said Cuba\u2019s so-called \u201czone of peace\u201d was being \u201cbrutally assaulted,\u201d describing the US move as \u201cstate terrorism\u201d targeting not only Venezuela but \u201cOur America\u201d as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He concluded the message with the revolutionary slogan: \u201cHomeland or Death, We Shall Overcome.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
