{"id":29981,"date":"2025-10-17T11:19:58","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T11:19:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/?p=29981"},"modified":"2025-10-17T11:22:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T11:22:13","slug":"fg-issues-new-guidelines-for-reciting-nigerias-national-anthem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/fg-issues-new-guidelines-for-reciting-nigerias-national-anthem\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Issues New Guidelines for Reciting Nigeria\u2019s National Anthem"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>Federal Government<\/strong> has released new guidelines on how Nigerians should recite the <strong>national anthem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement issued on Thursday by the <strong>National Orientation Agency (NOA)<\/strong>, only the first stanza of the anthem should be sung at official events, while the third stanza will now serve as the <strong>National Prayer<\/strong> at the start of such occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRecite\/sing only the first stanza (not all three (3) stanzas at official events,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe third stanza should be recited as the National Prayer at the beginning of an event.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agency added that all three stanzas should only be sung on special occasions like <strong>Independence Day<\/strong>, <strong>Presidential Inauguration<\/strong>, <strong>Armed Forces Remembrance Day<\/strong>, <strong>Democracy Day (June 12)<\/strong>, and the <strong>inauguration of the National Assembly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe three stanzas are to be recited\/sung only during Independence Day, Inauguration (swearing-in) of a President, Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Democracy (June 12) Day, Inauguration of the National Assembly, etc.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It further stated that the <strong>National Pledge<\/strong> should always be recited at the end of an event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe National Pledge is to be recited at the end of an event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"818\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/492532-818x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29982\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/492532-818x1024.jpg 818w, https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/492532-800x1001.jpg 800w, https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/492532-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/492532-768x961.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/492532-750x939.jpg 750w, https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/492532.jpg 874w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 818px) 100vw, 818px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>May 2024<\/strong>, President <strong>Bola Ahmed Tinubu<\/strong> signed into law the bill that reintroduced the old anthem, <em>\u2018Nigeria, We Hail Thee\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The anthem replaced the tune that had been in use since 1978, titled <em>\u2018Arise, O Compatriots\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here are the lyrics of the reintroduced national anthem:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stanza 1<\/strong><br>Nigeria, we hail thee<br>Our own dear native land<br>Though tribes and tongues may differ<br>In brotherhood, we stand<br>Nigerians all, are proud to serve<br>Our sovereign Motherland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stanza 2<\/strong><br>Our flag shall be a symbol<br>That truth and justice reign<br>In peace or battle, honour\u2019d,<br>And this we count as gain,<br>To hand on to our children<br>A banner without stain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stanza 3<\/strong><br>O God of all creation<br>Grant this our one request,<br>Help us to build a nation<br>Where no man is oppressed,<br>And so with peace and plenty<br>Nigeria may be blessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Can you recite both the old and the new Nigerian national anthems?
