{"id":28431,"date":"2025-09-07T14:12:02","date_gmt":"2025-09-07T14:12:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/?p=28431"},"modified":"2025-09-07T14:13:53","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T14:13:53","slug":"nigeria-to-witness-rare-blood-moon-total-lunar-eclipse-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/nigeria-to-witness-rare-blood-moon-total-lunar-eclipse-tonight\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria to Witness Rare \u2018Blood Moon\u2019 Total Lunar Eclipse Today"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>According to the <strong>NTA<\/strong>, the eclipse will last approximately <strong>83 minutes<\/strong> and is expected to begin around <strong>8 pm Nigerian time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scientists explain that the eclipse will be visible across most parts of Africa, with some regions able to enjoy the entire event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Countries expected to witness the rare celestial phenomenon include <strong>Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Togo, Niger, and Chad<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, experts note that the westernmost areas may miss some early penumbral or partial phases due to the <strong>Moon rising closer to or during totality<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scientists also confirm that viewing a lunar eclipse is <strong>completely safe with the naked eye<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>total lunar eclipse<\/strong> occurs when the <strong>Sun, Earth, and Moon align perfectly<\/strong>, with the Earth positioned in the middle, casting its shadow on the Moon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although such events are considered rare, Nigeria has experienced them multiple times in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>March 29, 2006<\/strong>, a <strong>total solar eclipse<\/strong> was witnessed in eight Nigerian states, including <strong>Ibadan, Abuja, Minna, Lagos, Kaduna, Abeokuta, and Katsina<\/strong>, lasting just under three minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, on <strong>November 3, 2013<\/strong>, a <strong>partial eclipse<\/strong> was visible across several Nigerian cities in the <strong>north, central, and southwest<\/strong>, including <strong>Abuja, Ilorin, Kaduna, and Lagos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another notable event occurred on <strong>July 27, 2018<\/strong>, when Nigeria experienced a <strong>total lunar eclipse<\/strong>.
