{"id":2229,"date":"2021-12-09T12:26:58","date_gmt":"2021-12-09T12:26:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/?p=2229"},"modified":"2025-11-21T18:29:31","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T18:29:31","slug":"sanwo-olu-suspends-proposed-peace-walk-gives-reason","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/sanwo-olu-suspends-proposed-peace-walk-gives-reason\/","title":{"rendered":"Sanwo-olu Suspends Proposed Peace Walk, Gives Reason"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has suspended the Lagos peace walk planned for December 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government let this out in a press statement on Thursday, December 9, 2021, Sanwo-Olu said he is \u201cconstrained to stand down all preparations for the Walk for Peace\u201d so as not to \u201cendanger the life of any Lagosian\u201d amid the outbreak of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said, \u201cBetween Tuesday 30, November 2021 that I made my address and now, we have seen a significant rise in cases associated with the Omicron variant of this pandemic.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given this development, I am constrained to stand down all preparations for the Walk for Peace. I will not endanger the life of any Lagosian in my sincere search for peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support the initiative received from far and near.
