{"id":21199,"date":"2024-12-20T11:22:07","date_gmt":"2024-12-20T10:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/?p=21199"},"modified":"2025-11-21T19:08:49","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T19:08:49","slug":"activist-arrested-for-abusing-tinubu-igp-slumps-in-police-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ideemlawful.com\/wp\/activist-arrested-for-abusing-tinubu-igp-slumps-in-police-custody\/","title":{"rendered":"Activist arrested For \u2018Abusing\u2019 Tinubu, IGP Slumps in Police Custody"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Nurse and activist Olamide Thomas, who was detained for her criticisms of President Tinubu on social media, is now being treated at the Muhammadu Buhari Police Hospital in Abuja after she collapsed while in custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her lawyer, Ernest Okpaga, disclosed this development to Premium Times on Thursday, citing that Thomas had been experiencing severe health challenges since her detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Okpaga revealed that his client suffers from asthma and peptic ulcer, conditions exacerbated by her time in custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stated, \u201cShe had been bleeding since Monday, and despite her complaints about her health, officers at the Nigeria Police Force Cyber-Crime Centre (NCCC) ignored her until she slumped on Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thomas was arrested in the early hours of last Friday at her residence in Shomolu, Lagos, and subsequently flown to Abuja the following day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since her detention at the NCCC, her health has reportedly deteriorated, with no initial access to medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Okpaga recounted the events leading up to Thomas\u2019 hospitalisation. \u201cShe finished writing her statement in the interrogation room on Thursday, and I had just left the premises when I heard officers shouting my name to come back,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon returning, he found that Thomas had collapsed, prompting her transfer to the hospital for urgent medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI came back and enquired what the issue was.
