Responding to comments made by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu\u2019s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Shaibu argued that public office demands constant accountability, even during personal breaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Onanuga had issued a statement urging the public to respect the President\u2019s \u201cprivate time,\u201d noting, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“President Tinubu is on leave for two weeks\u2026 he is still observing his leave.\u201dHe insisted that Nigerians should not be concerned about Tinubu\u2019s whereabouts, as the President is free to travel where he pleases during his time off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shaibu, however, criticised this stance, remarking on his X (formerly Twitter) handle that Onanuga\u2019s comments displayed \u201cindifference\u201d towards the citizens\u2019 struggles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOnanuga needs help,\u201d Shaibu retorted, accusing Tinubu\u2019s office of prioritising personal comfort over public duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile Nigerians grapple with fuel price hikes, inflation, insecurity, and a crumbling economy, we\u2019re told not to worry because, well, it\u2019s his private time,\u201d Shaibu added sarcastically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shaibu further asserted that the presidency should be a role of continuous accountability, not a \u201cpersonal getaway.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that citizens deserve leadership that understands the gravity of their challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNigerians deserve leadership that matches the gravity of the challenges they face, not one that treats the presidency like a travel agency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
