President Bola Tinubu will, on Wednesday, May 29, address a joint sitting of the Senate and the House of Representatives at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement on Monday night, Clerk to the National Assembly, Sani Magaji Tambawal, said the event is to mark 25 years of unbroken democracy in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President will also commission the National Assembly Library named after him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Expected at the joint sitting of the National Assembly are: Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors\u2019 Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq; Chairman of the Progressives Governors\u2019 Forum (PGF)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Others are the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike; Clerk to the National Assembly, Alhaji Magaji Tambuwal, and Senior Special Assistants to the President for both the Senate and the House, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, is expected to present a talk on \u201cReflections on the Journey to Democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There will also be commemorative lectures on 25 Years of the National Assembly: Lessons & Opportunities at the joint sitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Gbajabiamila, who served as the Speaker of the 9th House (2019-2023) will deliver a paper on \u2018Reflections on the House\u2019, Senator David Mark, GCON, the President of the 6th & 7th Senate (2007-2015), will speak on \u2018Reflections on the Senate.\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
