A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has alleged that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, asked the party not to field a presidential candidate in 2027 as a condition for resolving the crisis currently troubling the party.
Sani made the claim on Monday during an interview on Arise Television, stating that Wike presented the demand at one of the meetings held with the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) reconciliation committee.
He said Wike insisted that peace within the party would only be attainable if the PDP agreed not to present a presidential candidate in 2027.
Sani added that Wike warned that failure to meet the condition would result in “a fight to the finish” with the party.
Meanwhile, a faction of the PDP loyal to Wike, led by factional National Chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman, has scheduled Tuesday, November 18th, for its Board of Trustees (BoT) and NEC meetings.
The notice for the BoT and National Executive Council meetings was issued by the factional National Secretary, Sam Anyawu.
According to the announcement, the sessions will hold at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
“Attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed,” Anyawu stated.
