Uzodimma Raises Imo Minimum Wage to ₦104,000

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has approved an increase in the minimum wage for workers in the state civil service to ₦104,000.

This new figure represents a significant rise of more than 25% compared to the current national minimum wage of ₦75,000.

The announcement was made during a meeting with members of the state labour force held at the Government House in Owerri, where the governor also revealed new salary adjustments for other sectors.

Governor Uzodimma disclosed that the monthly salary for medical doctors in the state civil service has been increased to ₦533,000, while entry-level lecturers in state-owned tertiary institutions will now earn ₦222,000.

According to the governor, the upward review was made possible by improved internally generated revenue and an increase in federal allocations.

He stressed that the revised salary structure is designed to stimulate Imo State’s economy while boosting civil servants’ morale and productivity.

Additionally, Governor Uzodimma announced the approval of ₦16 billion to clear gratuity arrears owed to pensioners in the state.
