Taraba Gov Finally Speaks On Alleged ‘Expulsion Of Protesting’ Secondary Students [Video Of Protest]

A viral video on social media of protesting students of Government Day Secondary School, Salihu Dogo, over poor learning conditions has caught the attention of the State Government.

Taraba State Government through the Ministry of Education says a committee has been set up to unravel the circumstances that surround the viral video of secondary school students protesting over poor learning conditions in their school.

Commissioner for Education says none of the protesting students was expelled as purported in some quarters.

Reports that the protesting students were expelled were dismissed by the Commissioner for Post-Primary Education, Johanes Jigems.

He says the State Government has sustained the provision of primary and secondary schools with suitable learning conditions, despite lean resources, and a committee has been set up to investigate the secondary school protest.

Back at the Government Secondary School, Salihu Dogo, regular school activities were ongoing, when the AIT.live crew visited with the supposedly expelled protesting students still in school.

They spoke about how some of their class furniture were moved for the West African Examination Council exams for the SSS 3 students, leaving some of their classes with few desks.

Taraba State Ministry of Education says the findings of the committee set up to investigate the incident will guide government’s next line of action, to avert the same occurrence in the future
