What Abuja Imam Said About Buhari That Led To His Suspension [Watch Video]

The mosque committee of Apo legislative quarters in Abuja, has suspended its Chief Imam, Nuru Khalid, over a sermon he delivered on Friday.

In his sermon, the cleric, who was lamenting the security situation and disregard for human life in Nigeria told his congregation that there is a collective failure from the various leaderships of the country especially from President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Is there nobody to take responsibility? I want to believe that we have all failed,” he said

According to the Imam Khalid, “I failed as an imam to teach you that life is sacred; you all failed as parents to teach your children that killing is bad. Our community leaders failed, our politicians failed, governors failed, especially his excellency, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, you have failed us.”

Abuja Imam Reacts Following His Suspension For Criticizing Buhari Over Kaduna Train Attack

The chief Imam of Apo Juma’at Mosque in Abuja, Sheikh Nuru Khalid, has been suspended by the mosque’s steering committee for criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari over Kaduna train bombing.

The Imam, during Friday sermon, had criticized the president for failure to visit Kaduna over the daring terrorist attack, saying condemnation wasn’t enough.

He argued that the president was in Kaduna for campaign but refused to visit the state after the bomb attack. ”Everyone condemned the incident, except the bandits. So condemnation is not enough. The president should visit the state to sympathise with the victims.”

The president has been to Kaduna for campaigns but couldn’t go to the state on a sympathy visit,” he said.

The chairman of the mosque steering committee, Sai’du Dansadau, however said the Imam was sacked for inciting sermon on April 1.

He explained that the Imam had preached against exercising civic duty by advising voters to give conditions to political leaders before electing them.

Mr Dansadau added that the sermon was against Islamic tenets.

Reacting to his suspension in a post written in Arabic, Khalid said, “God is the most powerful. He gives (enthrones) and takes away power (dethrones) from whomever He wishes”.

The Imam said this a few hours after reports that he had been suspended as the Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque by the committee in charge of the worship centre.

Train Attack: Federal Government Reacts To Alleged Donations From Nigerians To Treat Victims

This was made available by Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi in a statement issued by the Ministry of Transport.

The Federal Government says it never asked Nigerians to contribute to the costs of treating victims of the Kaduna train attack.

This is coming after media report stated the Minister urged Nigerians to help with their treatment.

What the statement said:

Reads that, “The Minister asking Nigerian people to liaise with hospital management and see how much they can contribute to the treatment of the patients is false and a terrible misrepresentation.

“What the Minister said, which we have on record is: ‘ I have said to the Nigerian Railways Corporation to liaise with the hospital management and see how much they can contribute for the treatment of the patients.

The Ministry urged the public to disregard the false publications as it is a total misrepresentation of what the Minister had said.
