Victor Osimhen is a highly sought-after player, and some Arsenal fans are hopeful that he will join their club.

While the Gunners have been the highest scorers in the Premier League this season, it’s widely acknowledged that they still require a leading striker.

This is why they have been linked with moves for Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, among others.

Mikel Arteta’s side is determined to secure one of several high-profile strikers available on the market in the summer.

Arteta is currently working with the options available to him and maximising their potential, but Arsenal is expected to sign a proven goalscorer when the season concludes.

However, it appears Osimhen may not be headed to Arsenal, as a report from Corriere dello Sport suggests that PSG is now leading the race for the Nigerian striker.

Osimhen has reportedly been identified as the primary target to replace Kylian Mbappe, who is set to depart the French side in the summer.

Osimhen has been one of the best strikers around for several seasons, and it is not a surprise that a top club like PSG wants him.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has reportedly declined a transfer to the Premier League, opting instead for a return to the French League with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as his chosen team for the summer.

Osimhen has apparently revealed to his close friends his decision to join PSG, despite interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG itself.

The 25-year-old Nigerian forward is likely to exit Napoli in the summer, following the signing of a new contract in December that includes a €130 million release clause, which provides an exit route at the season’s end.

Despite a season marred by injuries, the Nigerian star has excelled in Serie A, scoring 11 goals and adding three assists in 18 league appearances. As the summer transfer window approaches, the 25-year-old is anticipated to be a key target for several clubs.

The agent of Thiago Motta, the current Bologna head coach, has stated that the Super Eagles forward has instructed Roberto Calenda to lay the groundwork for a transfer to the French powerhouse, PSG.

“In my view, he will likely play for Paris Saint-Germain,” Canovi told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

The former Lille striker is tipped to replace French star Kylian Mbappe who could be leaving the Parc des Princes for Real Madrid at the end of the 2023/23 season.

“It would be the smartest signing to replace Kylian Mbappe, who has been a Real Madrid player for months and it’s a farce that they are trying to avoid telling us.”

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has been ruled out of action for three months following the surgery on his cheekbone and eye socket.

Serie A leaders Napoli disclosed this in a statement released on their official website on Tuesday.

With this, the striker will miss the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.

The statement read, “On Tuesday morning, Victor Osimhen was operated on his cheekbone and eye socket by Gianpaolo Tartaro, who was assisted by Dr Mario Santagata with Dr Raffaele Canonico also present.

“Titanium plates and screws were used in the operation.

“The player is doing well and will remain under observation for the next few days.

“Osimhen is expected to return to action in three months.”

The Nigeria international suffered the injury in Napoli’s 3-2 loss to champions Inter Milan at the San Siro after colliding with Inter defender Milan Skriniar on Sunday.

He was taken to the hospital immediately after leaving the pitch and was discharged on Monday after being diagnosed with an orbital and cheekbone injury with the striker scheduled to go into surgery today.

The 22-year-old has been Nigeria’s first-choice striker since 2019 after the retirement of Odion Ighalo. He has been in good form for the national team scoring four goals in their Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying Group C.
