iDeemlawfulFormer President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump, who is seeking a second term in the upcoming general election, was shot in the ear on Saturday.
Despite the injury, he was rushed offstage and appeared defiant, pumping his fist as seen in a now-viral video shared on social media.
There have been no confirmed reports of any other individuals involved in the assassination attempt or injured during the incident as of press time. However, his campaign has released a statement saying he is “fine” and being assessed at a medical facility.
The incident has led to an outpouring of support for Trump and condemnation of the assassination attempt from various leaders.
In a post on X, Chuck Schumer, the US Senate majority leader said he is “horrified by what happened at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania and relieved that former President Trump is safe”.
“Political violence has no place in our country,” he added.
“I’m praying for the safety of every single person,” posted Orlando-area Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost to X. “Political violence is disgusting and should be fiercely condemned.”
Other politicians, like Gov. Ron DeSantis, also offered well wishes to the former president
