Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has raised the alarm over his recent arrest, allegedly by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky took to his Instagram page to announce his arrest on Thursday night, moments after disclosing his departure from Nigeria.

He was reportedly apprehended by EFCC officials while transiting through the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos en route to London.

In a late-night post, Bobrisky called on Nigerians for help, saying he was badly injured from the incident. He wrote; “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,”

We had reported several cases of Bobrisky’s encounters with law enforcement agencies, making headlines for similar issues in the past.

Bobrisky was earlier intercepted at the Sème border by the Nigerian Immigration while allegedly attempting to flee the country on 22 October.

Recall that Bobrisky’s ordeal followed an audio recording posted by VeryDarkMan, alleging that the cross-dresser paid top-rank prison officials to secure a private prison outside the Kirikiri prison, following his conviction for abusing naira in April.

Also, the leaked audio also claimed Bobrisky paid some EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges against him, through the help of popular singer, Falz and his legal luminary father, Femi Falana.

Bobrisky, however, denied making these claims, stating he was not responsible for the leaked audio and urged the Falanas to hold VeryDarkMan accountable instead.

Bobrisky: I won’t defend your reputation – Tunji-Ojo tells Correctional Service

Usama OLAGUNJU October 28, 2024
Usama OLAGUNJU

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stated that he would not defend the reputation of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) regarding allegations against it in the matter of a cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

Tunji-Ojo made this statement on Monday, noting that the issue concerning the popular cross-dresser was about reputation management and the ethical conduct of the paramilitary agencies under his supervision.

The minister warned that he would not defend the agencies if they erred while carrying out their responsibilities.

IDeemlawful recalls that a panel established by the Federal Government a few days ago declared that there was no evidence that Bobrisky did not serve his six-month jail term in prison, as alleged.

While the panel dismissed the allegations, it acknowledged that Bobrisky enjoyed some privileges in NCoS facilities while serving his term. The panel described this development as unethical and unacceptable.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a two-day Performance Contract Signing Retreat organized for senior officials of the Ministry and the paramilitary institutions under it, the minister said the paramilitary agencies should improve their efforts in internal security to support peace and national growth.

The retreat had the theme: “United Front for a Secure Nation and Future,” with all paramilitary services, such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FSS), participating.

Tunji-Ojo said the NCoS, in particular, should be seen as transformative and reformative toward inmates, with rehabilitation prioritized to respect human rights and uphold citizens’ dignity.“

The critical role that the Federal Ministry of Interior has to play in our internal security is very key.

“Every little effort from each and every one of you is important because without security you can’t talk about investment, without security you can’t talk about tourism and industrialization.“

Without security, you can’t talk about stabilization of the capital or money market or even employment. So it means that there is no productivity without security,” he said.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye also known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border.

The Service in a statement on Monday night said the social media sensation was arrested while trying to flee Nigeria.

A spokesman for the Service, DCI KT Udo, described Bobrisky as a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.

“In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service NIS intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country.”

“The Service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.

“He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action. The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country’s Borders,” he said.

The controversy surrounding Bobrisky began in April 2024 when iDeemlawful reported how he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse.

Although he was officially incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, reports emerged later alleging that Bobrisky spent only three weeks in the facility before being discreetly moved to a private location.

This prompted widespread speculation that his early release and special treatment were facilitated through bribery, with accusations of a N15m payment made to officials to secure his transfer and preferential conditions.

iDeemlawful had reported in late September 2024, when social media influencer, VeryDarkMan, posted an audio recording allegedly involving Bobrisky.

In the leaked recording, Bobrisky purportedly claimed that music artist, Falz, and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, had approached him during his imprisonment, seeking N10m to secure a presidential pardon.

In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, 2024, demanding a retraction and public apology for what they termed defamatory statements.

Bobrisky, however, denied making these claims, stating that he was not responsible for the leaked content and urging the Falanas to hold VDM accountable instead.

Meanwhile, the NIS in its statement on Monday said “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an
attempt to Exit the Country.

“He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action.

“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country’s Borders.”

Mompha Slams Defamation Suit Against Bobrisky, Demands N1bn For Damages

ideemlawful profile1iDeemlawful December 23, 2021
ideemlawful profile1iDeemlawful

Nigerian Instagram celebrity, Ismail Mustapha, popularly called Mompha, has petitioned popular Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, alias Bobrisky, for libelous and defamatory publications made against him, demanding compensation of N1 billion.

Mompha, in the lawsuit notice which he shared on his Instagram page during the early hours of Thursday, accused Bobrisky of not debunking a claim made by his (Bobrisky’s)former employee, Oyemyke, about them being homosexual partners.

The petition, which was signed by Mompha’s solicitor, Clement Benjamin, required the controversial crossdresser to retract and apologise in two newspapers within seven days or risk paying the sum of N1bn as damages over claims which Omaha described as “malicious”. Mompha also alleged that the cross-dresser carried out a campaign to smear his name with the assertion of him being “an audio billionaire renting cars in Dubai for the gram.”

The genesis of their spat began in September after Bobrisky’s former personal assistant, Oyemyke, brought some of his dirty secrets to the limelight.

She said Bobrisky allegedly had a sexual relationship with Mompha.

Bobrisky invited Oyemyke over to Nigeria to become his PA after she tattooed him on her body. However, their work relationship ended on a sour note and Oyemyke took to Instagram to answer questions about her former boss.

Earlier in the week, Mompha warned Bobrisky against using his name to chase clout after he was dragged into an ongoing online squabble with Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh.

Bobrisky ignored the warnings and went ahead to share old chats between himself and Mompha in which he appeared to beg the crossdresser for his car on Instagram.

Bobrisky lamented that Mompha and others only wanted to use him because of his money and called the businessman an audio billionaire.

In the petition, Mompha debunked Bobrisky’s allegations which had stirred several relations on social media.

“Regarding the aspect of borrowing Bobrisky’s car while in Lagos. I never borrowed a car from him at any point, I only asked him to come with Velar cos that is the only good car he has as of March 21 2020 what an insult. I borrowed Mompha when I had my own car in Lagos.”

” I never gossiped about Anita Joseph with Bobrisky, I only told him to be careful due to what I heard Anita Joseph say about me when Bobrisky and Nkechi were having issues on social media. Bobrisky tried to ask me what happened and I refused to tell him and this was clearly stated in the chat.”

Mompha also asked his fans to disregard all the falsehoods which he said are being spread against his person by Bobrisky as further actions are being taken by his legal team to ensure Bobrisky faces the full wrath of the law.

Mompha previously warned the controversial crossdresser on Instagram last week to desist from mentioning his name in any fight he might have with Tonto Dikeh or any other person.

This is not the first time the duo would be confronting each other; Mompha and Bobrisky have been at loggerhead since September 2021.

In the previous week, Bobrisky had dragged Mompha into a social media fight with Tonto Dikeh. Mompha would later disassociate himself from the fracas between the two controversial friends and also warned Bobrisky not to involve him in their fight, as it is against his religious belief.
