“Sequel to the above subject matter; I humbly write to your noble office to convey to you my resignation as the administrator of Ahoada-East LGA.

“My decision is informed by my desire to return to the private sector.

“My sincere gratitude goes to the government of Rivers State and the good people of Ahoada-East for finding me worthy to serve as administrator of Ahoada-East LGA from April 11, 2025, to June 20, 2025.”

The sole administrator of Ahoada-East local government area of Rivers State, Goodluck Iheamnacho, has resigned from his position, barely 10 weeks after assuming office.

Iheamnacho, in the resignation letter dated June 20, 2025, and addressed to Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, said the decision was informed by his desire to return to the private sector.

The letter partly reads: “Sequel to the above subject matter; I humbly write to your noble office to convey to you my resignation as the administrator of Ahoada-East LGA.

“My decision is informed by my desire to return to the private sector.

“My sincere gratitude goes to the government of Rivers State and the good people of Ahoada-East for finding me worthy to serve as administrator of Ahoada-East LGA from April 11, 2025, to June 20, 2025.”

On April 9, 2025, Ibas appointed administrators to take charge of the 23 local government councils across the state.

The appointees were sworn in on April 11, 2025, and took over from Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGA), who were earlier in charge of affairs of the LGAs.

Ibas, during a meeting, explained the rationale behind his recent decision to appoint administrators for the 23 local government areas in the state, saying it was driven by the urgent need to strengthen grassroots governance following his personal assessment visits.

“Since resuming this assignment, I have taken time to visit a few local government areas, those visits have afforded me the opportunity to interact with local government civil servants and it was clear that I needed help with administering the entire state after the emergency proclamation areas, which I am responsible for following from Mr President’s proclamation.”
