A grim incident has sent shockwaves through Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, as the lifeless body of Omoniyi Boluwatife, a fresh graduate of Lead City University, was discovered with her womb brutally removed after a night out at a local nightclub.

The heart-wrenching episode transpired a day following Boluwatife’s official induction into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, an occasion that should have marked the beginning of a promising career. The induction ceremony took place on August 9, 2023.

According to preliminary reports, Boluwatife had ventured to a nightclub to celebrate her recent accomplishment. Tragically, the young woman was found lifeless the ensuing morning, shattering the joy that should have surrounded her recent achievements.

Notably, Boluwatife had bid farewell to her visiting mother, who had traveled from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to partake in her daughter’s celebratory moment, before embarking on her ill-fated outing.

A viral video circulating on social media depicts the horrific act that befell Boluwatife, revealing that her abdomen had been surgically violated, leading to the removal of her womb.

The untimely death of Boluwatife has ignited a sense of fear and indignation within the community, prompting widespread calls for a thorough and urgent investigation into the harrowing circumstances surrounding her demise.

As the public seeks answers, the Oyo State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, Copacapana, the nightclub where Boluwatife had attended the gathering, has distanced itself from any culpability.

In a statement issued by the club’s management, Copacapana disavowed any responsibility for the shocking incident. An official from the establishment emphasized that once patrons leave their premises, they bear no accountability for subsequent events.

“The police are actively involved in the case, and we can only provide CCTV footage as evidence, as the incident did not occur within our premises,” the club representative stated.

“We trust that the authorities will ensure justice is served in this matter. We wish to clarify that the tragic event did not take place on our premises. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the victim’s family during this trying time. It is crucial for both security agencies and the government to work together to prevent such incidents in the future,” the official concluded.

The tragic fate of Omoniyi Boluwatife has not only cast a somber pall over her recent achievements but has also ignited a fervent call for justice and accountability within the community.
