Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday declared there would be no Palestinian state.
Directly addressing the leaders of Britain, Australia, and Canada after their recognition of Palestinian statehood.
Netanyahu argued that establishing a Palestinian state would put Israel’s survival at risk.
“I have a clear message for those leaders who recognise a Palestinian state after the horrific massacre on October 7: you are granting a huge reward to terror,” he said.
“And I have another message for you: it will not happen. No Palestinian state will be established west of the Jordan River.”
The prime minister further pledged to increase Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.
“For years, I have prevented the creation of this terror state despite enormous pressure both domestically and internationally,” he said in a statement.
“We have done so with determination and political wisdom. Moreover, we have doubled Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria, and we will continue on this path,” he added, using the Biblical term for the West Bank.
On Sunday, Britain, Australia, and Canada became the first Western nations acting jointly to recognise Palestinian statehood.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry welcomed the Western nations’ “courageous” move and urged more states – particularly the United States – to follow their lead.
