Lawyer Drags Whatsapp Admin to Court Over Removal from Group

A legal practitioner identified as Mr Edieke Jumbo is reported to have dragged NBA Public Relations Officer of his Branch, Mr Uboho Atang to court over his removal from the branch’s general Whatsapp group.

Mr. Atang, PRO of the Ikot Ekpene Branch of the NBA and who is also the Administrator of the branch’s Whatsapp chat room was accused of unilateral removal of Mr. Jumbo from the Whatsapp platform thereby depriving him of his right to association and expression.

In a suit filed at the High Court of Justice, Court 7, Uyo Division which will come up for mention on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, Mr Jumbo is claiming the sum of 5M million among other reliefs from his colleague for blatantly infringing on his fundamental rights of religion, expression and association.

In a report gathered by our source, some members of the branch could confirmed the incident.

It was noted that Mr. Jumbo was removed from the branch platform due to his habit of introducing political discussion on the branch platform.

Confirming further, another member stated that Mr. Jumbo had at one point on the platform accused the Chairman of the Branch of being incompetent citing his difficulty in accessing the lawyers Stamp and seal.

A development which resulted in the Chairman mandating the PRO to also excuse himself from the group
