The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed its deepest condolences to Nigeria following a catastrophic tanker explosion in Jigawa State, which claimed numerous lives and left many others severely injured.
The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the local community and drawn attention from both national and international organizations.
In an official statement issued by the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Nigeria, the Kingdom conveyed its heartfelt sympathy to the victims and their families.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nigerian people during this difficult time, and we stand in solidarity with the affected families,” the statement read.
The explosion, which occurred last week, resulted in heavy casualties, with local authorities working to identify the dead and provide aid to survivors. Initial reports suggest the tanker lost control before the explosion, causing extensive damage to nearby buildings and vehicles.
The Saudi Embassy further expressed its support for those recovering from injuries and assured the Nigerian government and people of continued assistance.
“We offer our sincere wishes for the swift recovery of those who were injured in this tragic incident and remain committed to supporting the people of Nigeria during this period of grief,” the embassy stated.
Local leaders in Jigawa have welcomed the gesture from Saudi Arabia. Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, in response to the embassy’s message, said, “We deeply appreciate the solidarity shown by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. At a time like this, their support is both comforting and necessary as we navigate through this tragedy.”
