The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised Senator David Mark as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), putting an end to the party’s prolonged leadership crisis.
In an update published on its website on Wednesday in Abuja, INEC listed the newly approved National Working Committee (NWC) of the ADC, signalling the resolution of months of internal disputes over control of the party.
According to INEC, the recognised executive team will be led by Senator David Mark as National Chairman, while former Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, assumes the position of National Secretary.
Other members of the executive include Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad as National Treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary, and Prof. Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor, former Edo State governor, as the National Legal Adviser.
The development comes after the opposition coalition formally adopted the ADC as its official political platform for the 2027 general elections in July.
Prominent figures in the coalition include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi (former Anambra governor), Nasiru El-Rufai (former Kaduna governor), Rotimi Amaechi (former Rivers governor), and several other heavyweight politicians preparing for the upcoming polls.
