An Imam and several other worshippers who were out for their early morning (Subhi) prayers have been abducted by some gunmen in Bushe community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
The victims were abducted when the suspected bandits stormed the mosque at dawn on Thursday.
DSP Ahmed Rufai, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident to the PUNCH on Friday. He stated that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are actively working to rescue those abducted by the terrorists.
He said: “I just confirmed the incident from the DPO of the community when I spoke with him on the telephone.
“I want to assure you that the Nigeria Police, in conjunction with other security agencies, are working tirelessly to ensure the immediate release of all the abductees.”
Sa’idu Ibrahim, a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly representing the area, also confirmed the incident.
The lawmaker reported that at least 10 individuals were abducted during the incident and commended the security agencies for their swift response
