Tinubu resolves Rivers Crisis, reunites Fubara, Wike, Lawmakers (Video)

The political crisis within Rivers State has been finally resolved as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reunited suspended Governor Sim Fubara, his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, and House of Assembly members.

The resolution of the crisis followed a meeting between President Tinubu and the aggrieved parties at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

A post by the president’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday morning confirmed the development.

The post on X, accompanied with a video, partly reads: “Tinubu brokers Rivers peace talks. President Bola Tinubu hosted a reconciliation meeting on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, bringing together all the figures in the Rivers State political crisis.”

Wike and Fubara have been embroiled in crisis for some time over the control of Rivers, with the situation spilling over to the State House of Assembly.

The impasse led to a series of litigations with the Supreme Court resolving the case in favour of the lawmakers.

But, the Supreme Court resolution sparked another round of crisis with the lawmakers and Wike threatening to impeach the Governor.

In March, President Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State after the situation threatened to get out of hand, suspending the Governor, his deputy, Mrs Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the House of Assembly.

The President also nominated Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as Administrator to take charge of the State
