President Bola Tinubu has congratulated winners of Saturday’s by-elections in 16 constituencies across 12 states.
Describing the polls as another milestone in Nigeria’s democratic consolidation.
According to the president, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victories in 12 constituencie;
While the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) clinched two;
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took one, and;
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) also won one.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Tinubu praised APC national chairman Nentawe Yilwatda for the “emphatic first victory” under his leadership.
He commends his capacity and the unity displayed by party leaders in presenting strong candidates.
The president also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as “orderly and largely violence-free” elections.
He thanked APC supporters and voters for their confidence, assuring them that the Renewed Hope agenda would deliver a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
Tinubu, however, urged defeated candidates to demonstrate sportsmanship, fairness, and magnanimity in the spirit of democracy.
Meanwhile, INEC declared the Kaura Namoda South constituency by-election in Zamfara inconclusive, following the cancellation of results in polling units at Sakajiki and Kambarawa wards.
