Jubilation as Tinubu increases NYSC allowance to N77000

The Federal Government has pledged to settle the backlog of the newly approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance.

This is coming after months of delay assuring that members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) may finally have reason to celebrate.

The government announced the increase from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 in September 2024.

Recall that this iDeemlawful reported the Director General of the NYSC has said members will start receiving N77k from March.

However, despite repeated assurances in the past, the revised allowance has yet to be implemented, leading to frustration among corps members.

Now, serving corps members, as well as those in the scheme when the increment was announced, are set to receive backdated payments.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, made this commitment during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

However, he did not provide a specific timeline for when the payments would be made.
