Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has directed the immediate removal of billboards and advertisements congratulating him on his appointment as Minister.

The Director of Press in the Office of the Minister, Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, conveyed this decision in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.

While expressing gratitude for the warm wishes and support from citizens, the minister has requested the discontinuation of lamp post billboards, full-scale billboards, and similar congratulatory displays.

In the statement, Ogunleye emphasized that Minister Wike acknowledges the goodwill and sentiment behind the congratulatory gestures, but intends to shift his focus towards aiding President Bola Tinubu in realizing his vision and aspirations for Nigeria.

The Minister’s commitment lies in contributing to the development and growth of the FCT, as well as the overall well-being of residents and the nation. Ogunleye highlighted that Minister Wike holds the aspirations and expectations of FCT residents in high regard and is dedicated to fulfilling his responsibilities with sincerity.

The statement concluded with the hope that the public will understand and support Minister Wike’s perspective as he works alongside stakeholders to build a stronger, more prosperous, and united FCT and Nigeria.

“The attention of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been drawn to lamp post billboards, full scale billboards and other adverts congratulating him on his appointment as minister.

“However, in the spirit of public service and commitment to his responsibilities, the minister wishes to focus his full attention on assisting President Bola Tinubu in realising his vision and renewed hope agenda for Nigeria,” he said.

“Wike sincerely hopes that the public will understand his perspective and continue to extend their support and cooperation.

“He looks forward to working hand in hand with all stakeholders to build a stronger, more prosperous, and united FCT and Nigeria,” the director said. (NAN)
