Consumers of Indomie and other noodle brands in Nigeria have been assured by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) that the common food is safe for children and some adults.

According to the report, agency investigations have shown that the Indomie Noodles linked to the recalls in Malaysia and Taiwan are not present in Nigeria.

In a statement, the Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, said this was revealed on Thursday at the MAN House in Ikeja, Lagos, during the Quarterly Interactive session between the Agency and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), where she urged Nigerians to always eat safely.

Noodles are one of my favorite foods to eat. However, I want to make sure that the food I am eating won’t make me sick and take medication.

Furthermore, if I take medication, the food I consume won’t interfere with it. I take food very seriously, so I do,” she said.

She stated that she immediately instructed the directors of food safety and applied nutrition, Mrs. Eva Edwards and Dr. Charles Nwachukwu, and laboratory services (food), respectively, to start tripartite discussions with manufacturers and marketers as soon as news of the recalls of Indomie Noodles from Malaysia and Taiwan reached Nigeria.

The DG said that someone had asked her when the results would be available and added that the Agency had performed all necessary tests. But we required a chemical standard.

It’s all based on science. We are a science organization, and science informs all of our processes. We are unable to conduct our own science in Nigeria. No. Chemical agents and similar items must be used according to international standards. ”.

She insisted that because the allegedly dangerous foreign noodles were not produced in Nigeria, local noodles were safe for consumption.
