The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed one hundred and fifteen of its personnel as part of ongoing internal reforms within the agency.
The DSS announced the development in a statement released on Tuesday through its official website and verified social media platforms.
According to the statement, the affected officers were relieved of their duties following internal assessments aimed at strengthening professionalism and accountability within the Service.
The agency further cautioned members of the public against engaging with any of the dismissed officers, noting that some of them continue to impersonate DSS personnel.
The statement reads: “As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period.
“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealings with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service.
“For the sake of clarity, the identities of the dismissed personnel have been published on the website of the Service (http://dss.gov.ng).”
The DSS, also known as the State Security Service (SSS), operates under the Office of the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force.
Its primary mandate includes safeguarding Nigeria’s internal security, preventing and detecting crimes, protecting sensitive non-military information, and countering threats such as terrorism, espionage, economic sabotage, and separatist movements.
Additionally, the DSS provides protection for top government officials, strategic national assets, and visiting dignitaries, while offering expert security assessments and policy advice to the government.
