A fire broke out early Monday morning at the Katsina State Government House, causing significant damage to parts of the building.
Witnesses in the area described seeing fire service trucks rushing to the scene.
Alhaji Bashir, a resident living near the Government House, confirmed the incident. “I saw a fire service truck rushing in,” he said. “I was in my house as early as 6 a.m. after prayers when I noticed the truck entering the Government House.
I later learned there was a fire in the red chamber, where Governor Dikko usually hosts guests.”
Efforts to reach an official of the state government for further details have so far been unsuccessful.
