
Fire Guts popular Lagos Dosunmu Market
Less than 24 hours following a fire that devastated the cosmetics and hair attachment section of Balogun Market in the central business district of Lagos Island, another blaze has occurred within a major market in the local government area.
This time, fire consumed shops at Dosumu Market off Idumagbo Avenue, Lagos Island.
It was reported that properties worth billions of naira were destroyed by fire on Monday at the cosmetics and hair attachment section on Issah Williams Street, off Breadfruit Street, Balogun Market.
The fire on Monday destroyed approximately 20 shops, three warehouses, and 16 stalls in a three-story building within the Balogun business district.
However, residents of the Dosumu Market district awoke on Tuesday to yet another fire incident.
Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the recent fire outbreak.
Farinloye said the market fire outbreak occurred at Dosumu Market off Idumagbo avenue.
He said more fire service officials are being mobilized to the scene.
