The Apple Store named Lululemon at Philadelphia in USA had been hitted by hundreds of masked teen at about 8pm on Tuesday and the police chased fleeing teenagers while recovering dropped iPhones and a ‘pile of iPads’ at some identified spot.
The thefts also occurred on the same day that Target announced it would close nine stores in four states, including one in New York City’s East Harlem neighborhood, and three in the San Francisco Bay Area, saying that theft and organised retail crime have threatened the safety of its workers and customers
Repot has it that some groups of teenagers ransacked an Apple store in US’s Philadelphia on Tuesday looting iPhones, iPads, and other products, stuffing them into plastic bags before fleeing.
The teens, reportedly more than a hundred in number, also attacked other stores before the police showed up.
Videos of the incident shared on social media show police officers trying to grab the looters in Halloween masks as they run riot through the stores. The clips are now viral.
The Apple store was hit at around 8 pm on Tuesday and the police chased fleeing teenagers while recovering dropped iPhones and a “pile of iPads” at one spot, a police statement said.
Footage from the aftermath of the looting showed Apple devices seemingly ripped from their display stands, the Daily Mail reported.
Twenty teens have been arrested so far, the police noted.
One of the looters, a woman, even livestreamed the chaos, the Daily Mail reported.
The woman was identified as Dayjia Blackwell, the woman was sharing clips of the looting on Instagram. She was later also apprehended by the police.
Some of the videos circulating on social media also showed masked people in hoodies running out of a Lululemon store and police officers grabbing several and tackling them to the sidewalk.
