A High Court sitting in Ilesa, Osun State on Friday ordered the leadership of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to conduct the state local government elections in the state.
The election which has scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 22, 2025 has been okay by the court.
This is coming amid tussle between concerned parties and the defying statement by the state Governor Adeleke against Tinubu’s Government directive to suspend the election.
However in an enrollment order delivered by Justice A. Aderibigbe, mandated and compelled;
“all the Security agents comprising of the Nigeria Police, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Security Services (DSS), the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the National Drugs and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Amotekun Corps, the Vigilante Groups etc. to provide adequate security and maintain peace and order before, during and after the local government election scheduled by the Defendants for 22nd February.”
The Peoples Democratic Party was the Claimant in the case, while OSSIEC and its chairman, Hashim Abioye are the defendants.
