The Federal High Court in Abuja will, on Thursday, deliver the judgment in the alleged terrorism case involving Nnamdi Kanu, and the ruling will be aired live.
The court registrar confirmed the arrangement to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday morning.
Cameramen from several television stations, including NTA, Channels TV, AIT, and TVC, were already present in the courtroom with their equipment set up for the live transmission.
NAN reports that Justice James Omotosho had, on November 7, scheduled today for the judgment.
Justice James Omotosho fixed the date after Kanu’s defence was closed when he maintained he would not open his defence under a repealed law.
Justice Omotosho ruled that Kanu, having exhausted the six days granted to him by the court to present his defence, had effectively waived his right to do so.
The judge said he would have extended the period allotted to Kanu for his defence if he had chosen to proceed with it.
He added that Kanu, having failed to take advantage of the opportunity provided to him, could not claim a violation of his constitutional right to a fair hearing.
