The Certified True Copy (CTC) of Supreme Court Judgement that affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory has emerged.
The apex court, nearly two months ago, has resolved the suit brought by Labour Party (LP) and it’s candidate, Gregory Peter Obi in favor of the respondents: INEC, senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Kashim Shettima and All progressive congress (APC)
The appellant however has finally received a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the apex court’s judgment dismissing its petition.
The CTC has sparked controversy and allegations of rights violations.
Surprisingly, Justice Inyang Okoro’s lead judgment spans just three pages while supporting judgments range from 4 to 41 pages. LP had previously accused the court of not delivering a substantive verdict.
In a new statement, LP Secretary Alhaji Umar Farouk alleges the Supreme Court took an “extraordinary, terribly shocking, and unacceptable” position by stating its decision would abide by the judgment in PDP’s separate appeal.
Detailing differences between the appeals, LP argues issues like forfeiture of narcotics funds and failure to meet electoral law requirements were unique to its petition. It claims over 18,000 blurred result sheets were also ignored by lower courts.
Decrying the Supreme Court’s alleged refusal to furnish a timely CTC despite multiple requests, LP concluded this breach of Section 294(1) violates constitutional fair hearing rights.
