An unidentified female corps member has been reportedly asked to leave the orientation camp over her refusal to abide by the official dress code at Gombe state.

A viral photo on social media shows a female corps member wearing a long khaki skirt and pleated white skirt instead of the standard white shorts and khaki trousers.

There were claims that the corps member was in the Oyo state orientation camp but this was debunked by Olatoye Christy, the state NYSC spokesperson.

Christy had said, “The attention of the management of the NYSC Oyo State has been drawn to the video that has gone viral in the social media showing an unidentified corps member that was purportedly spotted in NYSC Oyo State camp wearing a long white skirt instead of the conventional white short,” it read.

“It is important to set the record straight that the scene was never captured in Oyo State camp. Corps members are mandated to always put on the white T-shirt and white shorts as their uniform in camp and there was never any corps member who refused to comply with the NYSC dress code whether based on religious belief or any other reason.

“The NYSC camp is a regimented setting and no individual can be allowed to behave contrary to the rules and regulations guiding the orientation exercise.”

Meanwhile, some corps members at the Gombe NYSC orientation camp claimed the corps member had been decamped for wearing a khaki skirt.

According to those at the camp, the corps member was told to change to khaki trousers but she refused hence she was decamped.

Below are some of their comments:

Alycee Pee wrote, “It is very real dear, live @Gombe, my camp but she has been decamped today because she refused to change.

Okonofua Bridget noted, “She was decamped today. It happened in my camp Amada camp in Gombe state.”

Chioma Vivian wrote, “she wore Khaki skirt Nah… But she was decamped immediately…she dey my camp Gombe
