Representatives from The Maritime Club, University of Ilorin at the Women in Maritime experts – Euthusiasts conference hosted by the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun state.
The competition that has began in proper on the 31st of August 2021. Lagos State University (LASU), University of Ilorin (Unilorin)and the host school Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) among other universities across the federation participated in the competition.
As gathered by iDeemlawful, the competition was divided into two parts; The Debate and Power Point Presentation respectively.
“Topic for the debate critically discussed by the participants is ” Strategies in curbing piracy and sea robbery; Nigeria focus on security first or a case of misplaced priority”.
“Prisca Jaiyeoba” who was at the conference, while briefing our correspondence, added that, “Candidates from University of Ilorin argued on the points that; “focus on security should be the first priority in the Maritime sector in Nigeria”
“For the PowerPoint presentation, the topic was; Proffering feasible ways in involving women in Seafaring” which was fantastically presented by the candidates from university of Ilorin.”
“They made a PowerPoint presentation of 13 pages which was well applauded by the audience”
“The University of Ilorin, for the debate and power point presentation, was represented by Akintola Jalal a 400l law student and Yusuf Eeman who is also a 200l law student. At the end of the competition, Unilorin emerged as the first runner up”
“Candidates were given certificate of participation and a cash prize of 30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira).” she added
