All Adoration belong to Almighty who spares everyone’s life till today. He is truly the architect of the whole universe and all that exist between the heaven and the earth and beyond the galaxies. Warmest greetings to the honouree, the guest lecture, all the invited guests in this gathering, the well wishers and finally to all distinguished members of the Law Students Society, University of Ilorin.
I humbly welcome you all to this august occasion in the month of August poised at celebrating the pearls of personalities blessed with the legal profession. The Annual Personality Lecture has been the avenue to flaunt to the four corners of the world, the distinguished personalities that has multiply in setting the milestones.
Over the years, the steering of the Law Students Society, university of Ilorin has been undeniably receiving it enlivenment from people of iconic status that have taken it upon themselves as responsibility to be the human shield if not guardian angel.
Speaking of this year’s personality, it has been carefully chosen and held in Honor of a noble personality. Permit me to say a few things about today’s honoree in person of Professor (Mrs.) Nimah Modupe Abdulraheem. Professor Nimah has been an all-time worthy emulator with the personality she has chosen to live by. She is the first female professor of Law at the University of Ilorin and the first female professor of law in the Ilorin Emirate. This, no doubt, is a great feat. Every member of the Law Students ‘ Society should she motivated by this and I do hope we would.
Today’s personality lecture is another platform for us to show our gratitude to her for all the unparalleled impact in our sojourn of becoming lawyers. Also, we do recognise the incredible achievements she had recorded in the past and till today.
Dearest members of the Society, Professor Nimah is indeed an icon to emulate in all ramifications as it is clear to all that she epitomises excellence in all her doings. However, I have been given short time to present this speech, if not, I would have used the whole of today and still ask more days to continue mentioning all that professor Nimah had done and still doing in our live. We honestly thank you, ma’am.
On this same note, special recognition to the Dean of Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin in person of Professor Hakeem Ijaya for his fatherly roles and unparalleled support. To our Staff Adviser, Professor Bashir Omipidan who is ready to listen to our cries at all times. We honestly do recognise this, on behalf of the Law Students’ Society Executives, I say thank you, sir.
Also on this, we recognise Professor Egbewole Abdulwahab Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Professor Mustapha Akanbi Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Dr Kayode Olatoke Senior Advocate of Nigeria for their kind gesture and for recognising them as personalities that have been honoured with this personality lecture in the time past.
Also on this note, I do recognise and appreciate my co-executives, members of Law Students’ Society Judiciary, members of Law Students’ Society House of Representatives, members of Clasfon, University of Ilorin, members of Namlas, University of Ilorin, all the heads of Chambers, Clubs and Associations. This appreciation will not be completed without appreciating distinguished members of the Society who elected me to be the Chief Servant of the Society, I say to you all; many thanks.
Lastly, special appreciation goes to all the members of the organising committee of this august occasion. Mohammed Fawah, Isa Ganiyat, Hanafi Abdul Hafees, Dauda Abdulrazak Gidado, Adam Munirat and Silas Theophilus. I use this medium to felicitate with my good friend Silas Theophilus who is celebrating his birthday today. I thank you all.
