I was in utter shock in the morning of Thursday, 26th August, when Chief Lanre Ogundeji called me that his brother, Chief Joel Ogundeji had gone home to rest. I said to myself; there goes a man in whom there was no guile!
It is said ” The value of life lies not in the length of days, but in the use we make of them; a man may live long yet live very little “.
The greatest tribute to the departed is not grief but gratitude. We are therefore grateful for his life of service to God and to humanity. He was a consummate educationist, an accomplished administrator and an astute politician.
On a personal note, It was Chief Joel Ogundeji who, in April this year, nudged me to throw my hat in the ring to actualise my political ambition, believing in my ability and capabilities to contribute immensely to the development of Kwara South.
The expression of love and trust would remain indelible in my heart.
To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die, he surely, will be buried in our hearts. Adieu, my friend and mentor. May you rest in the bossom of your God.
Signed:
His Excellency,
Ambassador Olutola John Onijala.
