In commemoration of the World Hygiene Day, the national body of the Law Students Association of Nigeria celebrated with Over 500 ladies.
This News platform understands the menstrual hygiene day is worldly celebrated to mark in awareness of the female menstrual cycle.
While addressing our correspondent, the National vice president of LAWSAN, Faith Wandoo Kumekor noted that
“The world menstrual hygiene day is set aside to raise awareness about the challenges regarding menstruation, menstrual hygiene and end the stigma surrounding menstruation.”
She laments poor knowledge and understanding of how the monthly cycle transits among the female folks including most parents.
In her words, “Every girl child deserves access to education about menstruation and period-friendly sanitation materials among other things regardless of their status.
“With this in mind, the National Vice President of LAWSAN, Faith Wandoo Kumekor commemorated the world MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY by donating pads to over 500 young ladies and enlightening secondary school students as well as other female LAWSANITES who undertook the project and contributed their quota to this cause in different part of the country.
“This awareness program also provided them the opportunity to ask questions regarding menstruation, career, speak out on their thoughts on gender based violence etc.
It was carried out in different states within the federation”
