KWCAILS Law Students’ Association pays a courtesy visit to Hon. Justice Muritala Oba Folorunsho

On the 8th of Jan. 2025, the Law Students Association of Kwara State college of Arabic and Islamic Legal studies (KWCAILS) embarked on a courtesy visit to Honorable Justice Muritala Oba Folorunsho the newly appointed judge of Kwara State judiciary High Court, Ilorin.

The visit was aimed at fostering a cordial relationship between the association and the judiciary, as well as providing an opportunity for Law students to learn from the experiences of a seasoned jurist.

The courtesy visit was led by Mukaila Habeebullah, the President of Law Students’ Association (LASA), accompanied by other executives including Abdulwasiu Zainab, the General Secretary, Abduljelil Issa, The Chief Judge (CJ), and Olatunji Faosu Olamilekan, the Grand Kadi of the Association.

The visit commenced with an introduction by the LASA President, who expressed the association’s gratitude to the Honorable Justice for granting them audience. The president also congratulated the honorable justice on his new appointment as The Judge of the Kwara state judiciary high court, Ilorin.

“We’re really grateful for granting us the opportunity to be at your midst to discuss our yarning, you shall continue to be the ladder we’ll always climb” Said the President.

The Honorable Justice welcomed the students and commended their initiative in seeking to learn from the judiciary.

During the visit, the Honorable Justice shared his words of experience and insights on the legal profession, emphasizing the importance of integrity, hard work, and dedication.

He equally expressed his pride in seeing the visionary delegates from his alma mater. He advised them to continue their good work, emphasizing that they shouldn’t under-estimate their potential or see themselves as inferior to other institutions. He further testified that KWCAILS’ Law diploma is an excellent foundation for a legal profession, citing successful lawyers and SANs (Senior Advocates of Nigeria) who have graduated from the institution. He also responded to questions from the students, providing guidance on various aspects of the law and the judicial process.

“Do not under-estemate your potential, you’re definitely in the level with other institution if not beyond. KWCAILS is a bedrock of solid legal profession in Nigeria and I bet it, you’re not in a wrong place” Said The Honorable Jugde.

The visit was also attended by Lawyer Ismail Jubril who works at Federal High Court, Sokoto Division, a coursemate of Honorable Justice Muritala Oba Folorunsho, who presented an award to him. Lawyer Ismail Jubril expressed his pride in being a product of the college, highlighting the institution’s reputation for producing successful legal professionals.

“KWCAILS has done a lot in our life and I am very proud to meet my root once again today” Said Lawyer Ismail Jubril.

He made it known to us that the LASA anthem the Law Students of the College are reading today was written by him as far back as 1998.

After the words of encouragement from the legal luminaries, the Chief Judge of the Association stood up by saying “In fact, we’ve been hearing a lot about you, your honorable Justice sir, and from your words of encouragement, it has corroborated all what we’ve been hearing about you sir, we are very happy for all what we met on ground in the College, stemming from one Alumni to another and a lot of testimonies that we’ve been hearing about the College”

The Grand Kadi of the Association started by expressing the association’s gratitude; “The Law Students Association would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to the Honorable Justice for giving us an audience and sharing his invaluable insights and words of encouragement, your wisdom and experience have inspired us to strive for excellence in our academic and professional pursuits. We are deeply grateful for your support and guidance.” He concluded.
