The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victory in 20 out of 23 local government areas during Saturday’s Chairmanship and Councillorship elections.

The state’s ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), managed to win only three LGAs in the election conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

In a surprising outcome, Governor Siminalayi Fubara also lost his Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Area to the state’s main opposition party.
