Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor made the declaration on Wednesday during a briefing at the Executive Council Chamber of the Bayelsa State Government House. However, he did not reveal the political party he plans to join.
Diri’s decision reportedly has the backing of 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker.
His resignation comes barely 24 hours after Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, also defected from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
