The police have arrested 11 suspects who set afire a traditional ruler in Ogun State.
A petition was received from one Odetola Okuribido ‘m’ on behalf of the whole Okuribido royal house of Agodo town, Ewekoro local government Area of Ogun State.
According to the petition, the traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Oba Odetola Olajide was murdered on January 24.
He was said to have gone to his village on some of land to clear the graveside of his late brother, all of a sudden a bunch of hoodlums numbering about 50; led by one Gbeminiyi Sotade attacked him while three of his relatives were assaulted and macheted.

Confirming the incident, the Zonal Police PR Officer, Zonal 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan-Lagos, SP Hauwa Idris-Adamu in an exceedingly statement, the hoodlums pushed the traditional Ruler into his Red Toyota Sienna SUV 2016 model with license number APP 55 GF while one Agbara drove the vehicle within the company of other hoodlums to a close-by forest.
“They poured petrol on him and also the vehicle was finally set aflame with the corpse locked in it.“The three persons who narrowly escaped death are, Alfa Wahab ‘(male)’, Deborah Onilere ‘(female)’ and Lydia Odetola ‘(female),” Idris-Adamu said.
He noted that 11 suspects have to this point been arrested and that they have confessed to their involvements within the crime when asked why they attacked and murdered the standard Ruler; they claimed he was an “AJAGUNGBALE” (LAND GRABBER).
Meanwhile, efforts are at top gear to arrest others at large.
