The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dr. David Umahi has on Friday 29th May, 2020 inaugurates the newly appointed care-taker chairmen of the thirteen (13) Local Government Areas of the State. This was followed by the expiration of the tenure of the substantive LGA chairmen of the state. It was learnt that the tenure of the State LGA chairmen expired on May 28, 2020. To fill the created vacuum, the governor was on Wednesday sent the names of some vibrant men and women who are of good character and leadership skill to the State House of Assembly for confirmation. The selected people were confirmed and inaugurated today.
In his speech, the Governor therefore charged them to be active and key into the fight against corona virus which is ongoing in the State. The appointed persons are: 
1. Abakaliki—Mr. Beneth Nwovu. 
2. Afikpo—Mr. Amuche Otunta Godwin. 
3. Afikpo South—Mr. Chima Okechukwu Ogbuagu. 
4. Ebonyi—Hon. Francis Nwogbaga. 
5. Ezza North— Mr. Oganyi Christian Oganyi. 
6. Ezza South— Hon. Mrs Euphemia Nwali. 
7. Ishielu— Afamefula Ebenyi. 
8. Ikwo— Elder Stephen Orogwu 
9. Ivo—Onyebuchi Ogbadu. 
10. Izzi—Oyoh Paul Ugboluke. 
11. Ohaozara— Anegu Evoh. 
12. Ohaukwu—Nicodemus Omenka. 
13. Onicha—Chima Ude Umanta.
In his reaction, the chairman of the appointee, Mr. Benneth Nwovu on behalf of other appointed chairmen expressed their readiness to key into the good governance exemplified by the executive governor, Engr. David Umahi and promised their unalloyed readiness to see that the fight against corona virus is achieved.
Meanwhile, the Governor, on that same date appointed some other people into executive functions. Those appointed are: Chinyere Nwogbaga, as Member Ebonyi State House of Assembly Commission.  Princess Iyioku, as Secretary, Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board. 3. Mr. James Nwogha, as Member. Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board. And lastly, Mr. Kenneth Eze as Coordinator, Ezza South Development Centre.
The Governor however Charged them to use their acquired skills and knowledge for the development of the State and the country at large.
