INEC Begins Recruitment for Ad Hoc Staff Ahead of Elections; Applications Now Open

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially started the recruitment process for ad hoc staff in preparation for the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election, set to take place on June 20, 2026. Eligible Nigerians are invited to submit their applications now.

Interested individuals can apply via the official portal at https://pres.inecnigeria.org, with the application period open from April 25 to May 18, 2026. Applicants are encouraged to ensure that they complete their submissions within this timeframe.

INEC is seeking to fill a variety of positions, including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers/Assistant Presiding Officers (POs/APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers, and RATECHs.

To qualify for the Supervisory Presiding Officer role, applicants must be public or civil servants at Grade Level 10–14, or current INEC staff at the same level who are not assigned to other tasks.

RAC Managers should be school heads or staff on Grade Level 07 and above in institutions designated as Registration Area Centres.

  • Individuals looking to become Presiding Officers or Assistant Presiding Officers should meet one of the following criteria:

They must be serving corps members, final-year students at federal or state tertiary institutions with knowledge of IT;

Permanent staff of MDAs with OND qualifications or within Grade Levels 07–10;

INEC staff on Levels 07 and 08, or former corps members from the 2023 to 2026 batches;

Those interested in RATECH roles should have an IT background or be qualified ICT personnel within INEC who are not otherwise engaged.

It’s important to note that applicants cannot be affiliated with any political party or have shown support for any candidate or political group.

Additionally, except for those applying for RATECH positions, all applicants must reside in Ekiti State, where the election will occur. Returning applicants should apply under the category that reflects their current status.

This recruitment drive is part of INEC’s efforts to prepare for the Ekiti governorship election, where the incumbent, Biodun Oyebanji, is vying for re-election. Interested applicants who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply promptly through the official portal before the closing date.
