The vehicles were presented to the monarchs at the statutory meeting of the Ogun State Council of Obas held at the Obas’ Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Thursday.
The state governor, Dapo Abiodun, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Thursday night.
He said the gesture was in appreciation of the monarchs’ support and partnership in sustaining peace, stability and development across the state, describing traditional rulers as custodians of culture and tradition and a vital bridge between government and the people.

He stated, “Today, at the statutory meeting of the Ogun State Council of Obas held at the Obas’ Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, we presented 40 brand-new SUVs to our revered traditional rulers in appreciation of their invaluable support and partnership in sustaining peace, stability, and development across Ogun State.
“As custodians of our culture and tradition, and as a vital bridge between government and the people, we remain committed to supporting our monarchs in the discharge of their responsibilities.”
He called on traditional rulers and their communities to continue working with the state in creating a peaceful and investor-friendly environment.

He stressed that Ogun state cannot afford to discourage genuine investors, noting that their presence would create jobs, drive infrastructure development, and improve the well-being of residents.
He also called for greater vigilance on security matters, responsible land administration, and stronger community cooperation as the state works toward building a safer and more economically vibrant state.
He wrote, “We also used the occasion to urge our traditional rulers and communities to continue working with us in creating a peaceful, welcoming, and investor-friendly environment across all parts of the state.
“We made it clear that Ogun State cannot afford to discourage genuine investors whose presence will create jobs, drive infrastructure development, and improve the well-being of our people.
“In the same vein, we called for greater vigilance on security, responsible land administration, and stronger community cooperation as we continue to build a safer, more prosperous, and economically vibrant Ogun State together.”

The council holds regular statutory meetings and serves as a formal consultative body between the state government and the traditional institution.
Its legal framework is governed by the Obas, Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council Law of Ogun State, enacted in 2021, which provides a structured framework for the selection, recognition, and regulation of traditional rulers across the state
