A teenager, Aishat Kamardeen, has denied reports alleging that she was sexually assaulted by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former chairmanship candidate in the 2024 local government elections in Kwara State, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo.
Aishat, who said she would turn 18 in February 2026, described the claims as false, malicious, and politically motivated.
Speaking to journalists in Ilorin on Saturday, alongside her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kamardeen, she clarified that she had only approached Esinrogunjo for financial support to pursue her university education.
“I was never raped by anyone. The rumours circulating online are false and politically driven,” she said.
“It is true that I met Comrade Esinrogunjo because I had been admitted to the university. I met him in his office, and he promised to help me. He never gave me any condition, whether marriage or anything else, before helping me. All those things written online are not true. People should disregard those publications.
“As I am speaking to you, he has helped me in securing admission in the University of Ilorin; anyone in doubt can contact the university for verification,” she added.
Her father, Kamardeen, also dismissed the allegation, maintaining that his daughter was disciplined and well raised.
“When I first heard that one ‘Aishat Kamardeen’ had been raped, I didn’t even think it was my daughter.
“The publication mentioned a 15-year-old, but my daughter will be 18 in February next year. The story was fabricated to tarnish the image of someone who has been helping the less privileged,” he said.
Similarly, Aishat’s mother, Tawalitu Kamardeen, described her daughter as morally upright, insisting that the story was aimed at damaging both her daughter’s and Esinrogunjo’s reputations.
“The viral story was aimed at damaging both my daughter’s reputation and that of Comrade Esinrogunjo.
“We call on well-meaning Nigerians to disregard the false online publication. My daughter is not 15 years old, and she has never been raped,” she said.
It would be recalled that Esinrogunjo, a grassroots politician, was earlier dragged to court following a petition by the Global Hope for Women and Children Foundation, which sought justice for the alleged victim.
According to the charge filed in court, Esinrogunjo was accused of luring the teenager into his office along the Odota area of Ilorin after meeting her on her way to a Quranic class at Olorunsogo, where he allegedly raped her under the pretext of marriage.
